Ireland Colliery Chesterfield Brass Band

Saturday

Playing at Eroica Britannia is our favourite job of the year and we always draw in a crowd that is always willing to join in and have fun which is what we are all about. Many of our band members also stay over for the weekend because it is an amazing festival and we are honoured to be asked back year after year!

Ireland Colliery Chesterfield Brass Band is based in the historical market town of Chesterfield in Derbyshire. Since the decline of the coal industry in the UK which provided much needed funding to the brass band movement many bands found it a struggle to survive. Some bands folded altogether but many merged and this is what the Ireland Colliery the Chesterfield Band and Pearsons Pottery Band did in the late eighties to form what has now become Ireland Colliery Chesterfield Band. Colliery brass bands are part of the cultural history and heritage of the local area and the Ireland Colliery Chesterfield Band through its players and committee are committed to maintain this link for future generations. At Ireland Colliery Chesterfield Band our purpose and ethos is to make music whilst enjoying the camaraderie that being part of a team provides but most of all to have fun! The current band has a mixture of youth and experience led by our Musical Director - Richard Windle. Their performance at Eroica will be a mix of New Favourites and Old Classics.
