Roberto Lino Cappellina AKA “Cappellino” will be joining us on Sunday to provide some 'after hours indie pop'
Roberto Lino Cappellina AKA “Cappellino” has been making music “since forever”. Recently ‘longlisted’ to perform at Glastonbury 2017 for “a superbly composed performed and produced song that feels both epic and intimate at the same time” Roberto’s debut EP was released after years of honing his craft in bands around Watford’s thriving scene. Recorded at home with an acoustic guitar and loop pedal the EP received weekly airplay on Vibe 107.6 FM alongside fellow “Raw Vibes” artist Jack Garratt with over 10000 plays on Spotify. Following a year which included performances at Soho’s Ronnie Scott’s and Jamie Oliver’s Big Feastival Roberto spent most of 2016 writing and recording his debut album which is due for release in October.
At Eroica Britannia we're all about cycling! Can you tell us about the first bike you owned?
The first bike I remember owning was a gold 'Monte Carlo' racing bike which I got for my 8th birthday. I was so proud of it; I remember inviting my friends over for a 'bike party'. I'm pretty sure my Dad made a Hulk Hogan cake too!
Can you tell us about a memorable bike ride or cycling related story?
There's not really one that stands out but I do have lots of great memories as a kid knocking for my mates and going on bike rides to go and check out the local myths and legends.
What are your top 3 festival essentials that you always pack?
Wet wipes, sunnies and a waterproof mac! Although that's about all I actually pack...
Your soundtrack of the summer?
The last Bombay Bicycle Club album gets a lot of listens when the sun comes out. I currently can't get enough of 'Damn' by Kendrick Lamar which I imagine will bleed into the summer.
What’s your greatest adventure to date?
I was fortunate enough to spend last Christmas in Western Australia with my girlfriend where we got to do a lot of bucket-list stuff such as climbing a 50 metre high tree and overeating at every meal.
You're enjoying a picnic on a summer’s day what favourites are in your picnic box?
Picnics are out! It’s all about moon-nics (basically a picnic at night). Nothing lends itself to a moon-nic like a bottle of premium gin though I usually scrimp on the tonic just to balance things out. I am partial to those cheese stuffed peppers and a cheese board.
Eroica Britannia are known for their stylish customers who are your style icons?
I wouldn't say I've much zest when it comes to style. I mean I'm not a scruff-bag but I tend to just wear simple designs and block colours; jeans t-shirt/open button shirt and boots - that kind of thing. I guess Andrea Pirlo always looks sharp!
Favourite ice-cream flavour and topping?
Pistachio topped with Pistachios.
Favourite thing that gets you excited for summer?
I played a show in Bedford for Record Store Day in April. The sun was out and I remember driving past this pub that was overlooking the water wishing how much I wasn't driving that day.
Favourite summer tipple?
Gin (obviously) or cider. Bulmers brought out this blood orange flavour a while back and it’s incredders.
Any festival rituals before you head on stage?
Usually picking the ice cubes out of the water with no ice that I requested. That and some breathing exercises.
If you could ride on the back of anyone's bike who would it be and why?
Knee-jerk answer would be Sean Lock the comedian. I don't know I just think it'd be hilarious. Every time we'd go round a corner I'd imagine him giving it the old 'wheheheeee'.
