Following their successful appearance at Eroica 2016 and 2017, the 70-strong Bakewell & District Community Choir are back! They are proud to be associated with the festival and this year are planning on dressing in vintage and have some cracking songs from the era! Choir leader Lester, is a keen cyclist and takes part in The Ride along with a few other members of the choir.
Following their joyous success at Eroica Britannia in 2016 and 2017, we’re delighted to confirm the 70-strong Bakewell & District Community Choir will perform for the third year running! The Choir plan to perform in the style and spirit of the festivities, by dressing to the nines and compiling a setlist to boot.
Their musical repertoire ranges from Native American chants to songs of freedom from Nelson Mandela’s South Africa, with a little blues, skiffle and Sixties pop thrown in for good measure. These homegrown voices from the heart of he valley will feel perfectly at home performing amongst our historic territories and expansive landscapes.
The Choir embody Eroica Britannia’s sense of local community style get-togethers and a feeling of joyous camaraderie held firm by the unity of the bike. Lester Simpson not only leads the choir, (and formerly a member of a well-known acapella folk group) but is also a keen cyclist set to join us for The Classic Ride on Sunday! Hooray!
