Ride Diaries :: No.270

"Their solution was to lend me a wheel from their daughters bike, which was perfect for me, so I completed the rest of the ride. A great day!"
We're delighted to share our Ride Diaries from The 500. Tales of comradery, endurance, heroism and friendship; from a much needed push up to Beeley Moor, a gifted wheel replacement at The Quiet Woman to the warmest of welcomes home to Bakewell - we're proud to note - the kindness of strangers is our running theme.
"My rear axle broke about 45 miles into the ride.
Many riders went by and asked if I was OK, which I was, but No. 270 stopped, helped remove the wheel and tried to fix things for me, Thanks to 270.
Accepting I would not be cycling the remainder of the event I walked and free wheeled to the Quiet Woman Inn, where I spoke to the Stewards, their solution was to lend me a wheel from their daughters bike, which was perfect for me, so I completed the rest of the ride.
A great day!"
