"One thing that everyone said about why they keep coming back and I mean everyone I spoke to, all agreed that it's the people who make this event so special and that is why I'll be back again next year, and the next and the next etc etc."
We're delighted to share our Ride Diaries from The 500. Tales of comradery, endurance, heroism and friendship; from a much needed push up to Beeley Moor, a gifted wheel replacement at The Quiet Woman to the warmest of welcomes home to Bakewell - we're proud to note - the kindness of strangers is our running theme.
"Simply Magical. What an absolutely brilliant event to be a part of. Riding bicycles is one the finest things in the world, it gives emotions that nothing else can. Over the course of 66 miles riding Eroica Britannia yesterday I experienced a whole new level of emotions. I was asked to help out on the ride and be a “Grupetto” rider, as an email later would state “be in charge of the good vibes”.
I honestly didn’t think I could fall in love with so many people, from the event organisers, to the event helpers, to the people on the roadside but mostly the riders.
The event was so filled with love that at points it was quite overwhelming. I’ve honestly never experienced anything like it, it was absolutely unreal. Most of the people I spoke to had ridden some kind of L’ Eroica event previously and I totally get why it’s absolutely out of this world. One thing that everyone said about why they keep coming back and I mean everyone I spoke to, all agreed that it’s the people who make this event so special and that is why I’ll be back again next year, and the next and the next etc etc. I feel like such a fool for not taking part in previous years.
Thank you to everyone who makes this event so unique. Eroica Britannia, you should be very proud of yourselves. You enhance the world of lots of people, that’s a magical thing to achieve.
Thank you and grazie mille."
