Ride Diaries :: 1976 Hetchins Vade Mecum

Published on 31st. August 2019

"I usually do the ride on my grandfather's 1965 Hetchins Vade Mecum which has been passed down through the family. This year I decided to restore a Hetchins of my own so rode the 1976 Keyhole I've been working on this year. She rode like a dream!"

We're delighted to share our Ride Diaries from The 500. Tales of comradery, endurance, heroism and friendship; from a much needed push up to Beeley Moor, a gifted wheel replacement at The Quiet Woman to the warmest of welcomes home to Bakewell - we're proud to note - the kindness of strangers is our running theme.

"Just a quick thank you for another epic ride through the peaks! This was my third Eroica Britannia and definitely the best in terms or route and challenge.

I usually do the ride on my grandfather’s 1965 Hetchins Vade Mecum which has been passed down through the family. This year I decided to restore a Hetchins of my own so rode the 1976 Keyhole I’ve been working on this year. She rode like a dream on the route and collected many admiring glances."
