Searching for a great Mother's Day Gift? Get inspired by Gill and Jen!
Heads Up! It's Mother's Day next Sunday! We wanted to share Gill and Jen's story as 2017 will be the second year they have ridden together as a 'Mum and Daughter' team! Thanks ladies for sharing your story!
Gill & Jen Chapman
Mum (Gill Chapman) and daughter (Jen Chapman) completed the 30 mile route last year and will be riding again in 2017 on matching Raleigh vintage bikes and sporting a 'spotty' theme.
“I live locally at Chelmorton and work for Derbyshire Dales District Council. My daughter Jen grew up in Derbyshire, she went to school in Sheffield and is now a veterinary surgeon working in Liverpool.
2016 was the first year we rode, the previous years we actually helped out manning the 'stamping station' at the Hartington food stop, making sure all the cyclists had their Eroica route card stamped.
"We are still undecided whether we will be doing the short or medium route this year - depends how fit we are by the 18th June! We're not dedicated cyclists but are both now very enthusiastic about vintage bikes and all things vintage. We even have matching Raleighs!"
We both absolutely loved the 30 mile ride last year, it was great fun and although we took all day to do it, we spent ages at the food stops chatting which was lovely. By the time we got back to the festival ground the rain had just set in again but that didn't dampen our spirits - we just bolstered them in the Gin bar!"
