Event Partner: Peak District National ParkPublished on 3rd. April 2017
It's the perfect partnership: a glorious family festival of cycling, style and music set amidst the stunning landscape of the Peak District, Britain's original national park.
We’re delighted to work with Eroica Britannia, welcoming visitors from around the world to our magnificent countryside.
The Peak District is a magnet for cyclists, keen to explore our 555 sq miles of natural beauty. From family-friendly trails to the most challenging routes, we offer cyclists of all abilities the chance to experience the great outdoors at its finest.
Eroica Britannia has chosen some delightful routes – in terms of both terrain and tradition – for The Ride on June 18.Whether tackling routes of 25, 55 or 100 miles, cyclists taking part in The World’s Most Handsome Ride will enjoy some of the National Park’s most incredible territory.
There are dramatic hills and picturesque dales; wild moors and stately parkland; picture perfect villages and pretty hamlets. The Peak District’s rich history can also be glimpsed, from the Neolithic henge monument at Arbor Low to ancient market town Chapel-en-le-Frith – established by the Normans in the 12 century - to the industrially-important World Heritage Site of the Derwent Valley Mills.
Our railway heritage is also celebrated, with Parsley Hay - a former station on the Cromford and High Peak railway line and, at 1150 feet above sea level, one of the highest in England -featuring in all three routes. Long and Medium route riders will revel at the lunchtime Feast Stop at the impressive Millers Dale Railway Station, once a large and important station on the Midland Railway’s Manchester to London line.
Come and See Us At The Festival
But we’re sharing even more than our amazing countryside and trails with Eroica! Throughout the festival, we’ll be joining in the fun at Friden Grange, with attractions for all the family. Visit our stand for a chance to win some great prizes - from luxury sleeping bags to a super family camping experience in one of our wooden pods at atmospheric North Lees, below the brooding rocks of Stanage Edge. You’ll also be able to dress up in true Eroica style and be snapped for posterity in our fun photo booth! A little retail therapy beckons, with tempting treats including our own range of cycling-themed t-shirts, distinctive homewares and our new mascot, the oh-so-cuddly Millie the sheep. And, in case of any technical glitches, our cycle maintenance experts will be on hand to help.
